BHS Girls' Lacrosse vs Nauset - May 17, 2019

Bourne sophomore Kiely O’Connor has been a key offensive player for the Canalmen as they push for the postseason.

With one more game left in the regular season, the Canalmen girls’ lacrosse team made sure it was a meaningful by scoring an 11-goal home win against the Falcons last Friday, May 24.

With the 15-4 win against Dighton-Rehoboth, Bourne holds its playoff fate in its own hands.

Kiely O’Connor led Bourne with four goals and two assists, while Erin Reilly also had four tallies, to help the Canalmen win and draw one step closer to a Division 3 South Sectional playoff berth. If Bourne defeated New Bedford yesterday on Thursday, May 30, on the road, the Canalmen will reach the playoffs for the first time under head coach Mike Massmann.

When the Canalmen first met New Bedford at home last Thursday, May 23, the Whalers scored a 13-8 win.

Abby Ariagno netted a hat trick as Taylor McCarthy added two goals and two assists. Caitlin O’Connor had a goal while Isabel Stone tallied a goal and two assists from her defensive position.

Bri Becker made 10 saves in the win for Bourne, as she received great defensive support from Sara Sullivan, Caitlin O’Connor, Stone and Jillian Orth, according to Massmann. Bourne had previously bested Dighton-Rehoboth in North Dighton, 18-4, on May 16.

Bourne (9-10, 5-5 SCC) completed its season and awaits its seeding in the Division 3 South Sectional tournament.
