The Old Rochester/Bourne-Mashpee-Upper Cape-Apponequet Bulldogs capped off a busy start to the season with a much-needed victory.

Visiting Martha’s Vineyard on Monday, December 16—after the game was pushed back a day due to inclement weather—ORR/BMUA powered its way to its first win in shutout fashion, 5-0.

Junior co-captain Carly Drew recorded three points in the win, notching two goals and an assist, while Kellen Gaeke tallied her first career varsity goal. Senior goalie Megan Nolan turned aside all 38 shots she faced.

It won’t be the team’s regular site for home games this season, but Gallo Ice Arena hosted the newly re-aligned Old Rochester/Bourne-Mashpee-Upper Cape-Apponequet girls’ hockey team in a showdown with former Southeastern Massachusetts Girls Hockey League rival Barnstable.

The Red Raiders, much like they did as SEMGHL rivals, got the better of the Bulldogs, 3-0, on Saturday, December 14. The majority of the Bulldogs’ home games will be at the Travis Roy Rink at Tabor Academy in Marion.

Barnstable led 2-0 in the first period before adding an insurance goal with less than eight minutes to play in the third period.

Following their Thursday, December 19, home game against Marshfield the Bulldogs (1-1, 1-0 SEMGHL) are off until Friday, December 27, after a stretch of three games in six days. They’ll take part in the Judy Gormley Tournament at Gallo Ice Arena, opening against Sandwich.
