The Upper Cape Tech golf team opened its season on the road on Wednesday, September 4.

Visiting Mayflower Athletic Conference rival South Shore Voc-Tech at Rockland Golf Course, the Rams fell to the Vikings, 7-2. Playing the front nine of the par 27 course, junior Ben George was the low scorer on the afternoon, shooting a 39.

He was followed up by freshman Connor McEntee’s score of 42. Junior Gabby DeFelice wasn’t far behind McEntee, as she finished the afternoon with a score of 43. Sophomore Pat Ghelfi also shot a 43 for the Rams while classmates Chase Romiza and Pete Langan rounded out the UCT scorecard with numbers of 45 and 46 respectively.

The Rams do not feature a senior this season, but have four returning players from last year’s team that placed in the top six against the Vikings. South Shore Voc-Tech had three players shoot 40 or under on the afternoon.

UCT (0-1, 0-1 MAC) will travel out to Fall River Country Club on Monday, September 9 for another MAC match against Bishop Connolly at 3:30 PM.
