Playing their second match in as many days, the UCT Rams’ volleyball team earned their second-straight sweep against a Mayflower Athletic Conference foe on Tuesday, October 1.

Hosting the Bristol Aggie Chieftains, UCT won in straight sets 25-18, 25-20 and 25-22.

Zoe Jackson-Laro came up with nine service points while Taylor Richards and Nicaeyla Pires each had seven service points and five aces. Zoe Janicki got better as the game progressed, coming up with five hits, three tips and three blocks at the net from the middle hitter position.

Defensively, Jackson-Laro dug up eight balls while Pires had seven digs of her own. Setter Sarah Vieira finished the match with a game-high 39 assists while Richards and Bethany Davis also were strong setting up teammates.

UCT 3, West Bridgewater 0

The Rams made quick work of the visiting Wildcats on Monday, September 30.

In a match that took about 45 minutes to complete, UCT won like they had early dinner reservations, earning the three-game sweep with wins of 25-21, 25-16 and 25-14.

Head coach Karen Lafreniere said Janicki played amazingly, putting up 15 services points—eight of which were aces—to go with seven hits, two hits and two kills. Richards was also strong at the net and the service line. She put up four hits and two kills to go with 12 service points and five aces.

Jackson-Laro pulled out 10 digs in the win.

UCT (5-6, 4-2 MAC-Small) host Atlantis Charter on Friday, October 4 at 5:30 PM. Atlantis Charter won the previous meeting in Fall River, 3-2, on September 16.
