As Catholic Memorial School of West Roxbury begins another school year, the school is marking a new board chairwoman’s first term.
Barbara Finigan Fitzgerald of Falmouth is the first woman to hold this position in the history of the all-boys school.
At its June meeting, the board of directors unanimously elected Ms. Fitzgerald and her term started on July 1. Ms. Fitzgerald joined the school’s community as a parent when her son enrolled in the fall of 2013.
‘I look forward to continuing the strategic vision for [the school] the board and administration is following as we help the CM community pursue excellence in academics, student development programs, and engagement with alumni and parents,” she said.
Ms. Fitzgerald is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, where she majored in economics and political science. In addition, she is a graduate of Marquette University’s law school where she served as editor-in-chief of the Marquette Law Review. Her son will enter his senior year at the College of the Holy Cross in the fall and her daughter, Erin, is currently studying at Boston College.
