Aww, Shucks: All About Oysters
Oysters are not only tasty culinary treats, but they also help in cleaning up Mashpee’s coastal waters. Oysters are efficient filter feeders that help remove excess nitrogen by incorporating it into their shells and tissue as they grow. Representatives from the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension and the Mashpee Department of Natural Resources will be at the library to provide information about nitrogen remediation. Learn how you can join Mashpee’s volunteer force helping to propagate oysters. Saturday, April 13 from 2 to 3 PM.
You’re Invited To The Library’s Birthday Party!
Our new building opened on April 16, 2010, and we will be marking the occasion during school vacation week on Thursday, April 18 from noon to 4 PM. Everyone is invited to join us for cupcakes and to play The Selander Mini Golf Open throughout the library.
This free day of fun is provided courtesy of the Friends of the Mashpee Library and through the generous sponsorship of many local businesses and merchants. It will be fun for the whole family. Mark the date and help us celebrate.
Popcorn And A Movie
Get ready to enjoy the big screen and sound system at the library on Friday, April 19 at 2 PM. We will be showing a movie starring Emily Blunt as everyone’s favorite magical nanny and Lin-Manuel Miranda as her Cockney lamplighter pal. This film is a sweet, nostalgic, toe-tapping sequel to “Mary Poppins,” the Oscar-winning 1964 classic. Because of movie licensing regulations, we are not able to publish the exact title, however, you can give us a call at 508-539-1435 extension 3001 and we’ll let you know—if you haven’t already guessed. Bring a comfy pillow and watch the family fun. This movie is rated PG and recommended for age 6 and up. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the film. Running time is 130 minutes.
