Black Earth Compost, a full-service compost company based in Manchester-By-The-Sea, has acquired Compost With Me LLC and will assume collections starting on Tuesday, August 4.

Black Earth has been collecting from the Mashpee and Falmouth municipal transfer stations this month, continuing service that Compost With Me began several years ago.

Falmouth residents may continue to drop off their household food scraps, free of charge, at the town’s waste management facility at 458 Thomas B. Landers Road.

Black Earth Compost also offers yard waste and textile recycling to its residential customers; their residential collection service starts at $17.99 per month or $99.99 per six months.

Former Compost With Me owner Mary Ryther will continue working in other areas of the compost industry and pursuing the goal of establishing a municipal-scale composting facility on Cape Cod.

Compost With Me has served the Falmouth area since 2013, currently collecting residential food scraps from about 100 households and diverting an estimated 1,600 pounds of residential food scraps from the waste stream each week, or 83,000 pounds annually.
