Marysol Jurzcyk and Arin Atema of Falmouth, students at Vineyard Montessori School, are preparing for the Montessori Model United Nations Conference in New York City this March.

Falmouth residents Marysol Jurzcyk and Arin Atema, students at Vineyard Montessori School, are taking part in the Montessori Model United Nations Conference in New York City from March 14 to 17.

Marysol and Arin are in the midst of a three-month-long preparation for this event. They are researching the country that they are representing, writing position papers on their topics, writing 1.5-minute speeches that they will deliver at the conference, learning how to write resolutions, and preparing display boards about their countries. Marysol will be representing Sri Lanka with her topic on the Effects of Atomic Radiation. Arin will be representing Bosnia and Herzegovina and finding solutions for the Situation of Palestinian Refugees in the Near East.

The conference targets students who are in upper elementary and middle school, from age 9 to 15.
