Except for a couple days over the weekend, hot and humid weather prevailed this past week. The high of 90 on Friday was the highest of the summer. The average temperature for the day was 13 degrees above normal. The remnants of Ida charged into the Northeast Wednesday night with heavy rains. The 24-hour total of 4.18 inches was the greatest at my location since records began in 2002. Amounts varied across the town. West Falmouth had 5.83 inches and North Falmouth 6.53 inches. The average temperature for August was 75.6, tied for the fourth warmest in the last 19 years. Total rainfall was 2.66 inches.
