4:22 AM: A water main break was reported at the intersection of Wild Harbor Road and Benjamin Nyes Road. The water department was able to shut off the main and return later to make repairs, police said.

9:27 AM: Officers responded to a group home on Palmer Avenue and took a person into custody for an involuntary committal for mental illness order issued by a doctor. The person was subsequently transported to Falmouth Hospital for a mental health evaluation and treatment, police said.

Saturday, September 26

1:05 AM: Officers were dispatched to Carriage Shop Road for a report of a shirtless man who appeared to be intoxicated while walking in the road. It was also reported that the man knocked on the reporting party’s door, then walked away. A short time later he was located on Waquoit Landing Road, police said. While on scene, police found that the man, Thomas Burton, 23, of Quashnet Road in Mashpee, had allegedly been involved in a fight. He was placed into protective custody for alcohol. The alleged assault and battery is under investigation.

11:05 AM: A seasonal police officer on a walking beat discovered a scooter in the woods behind Falmouth Town Hall. The scooter was brought to the police station. It is under investigation, police said.

1:10 PM: Police reported a 7-year-old became separated from her family in Beebe Woods while on a walk. Multiple officers searched the area and located the girl near Ter Heun Drive.

6:45 PM: A one-car crash was reported on the west end of Route 151. The operator, Brienna McVey, 36, was traveling eastbound, crossed through the westbound lane, crashed through a mailbox and ended up on some large boulders, police said. She had fallen asleep and the methadone that she was prescribed was a factor, police said. Ms. McVey was cited for negligent operation of a motor vehicle. She reported arm pain but refused treatment, police said.

Sunday, September 27

12:47 PM: Gosnold Treatment Center called to report that an intoxicated man left the premises and was not welcome back. Officers checked the area and located him breaking into a hospital employee’s unlocked car. He was placed under arrest and booked without incident, police said.

12:49 PM: Officers responded to Walmart to check on the welfare of a man who was reportedly nodding off. Police found he was conscious, but it was evident that the subject was overdosing from an unknown drug. Medics transported the man to the emergency room, police said.

5:59 PM: A Scranton Avenue resident reported an unwanted guest in her apartment. Officers responded and found that the male had an outstanding arrest warrant for domestic violence-related offenses out of Falmouth District Court. He was arrested without issue, police said.
