Firefighters in Falmouth extinguished a fire that ignited on a boat at a home in Falmouth.

Firefighters responded to the fire at 12:16 PM, Saturday, May 30. Deputy Fire Chief Scott J. Thrasher said the 24-foot fiberglass Parker was positioned next to a garage at the home, located on Overlook Circle in Waquoit. The fire was isolated to the boat and did not extend to the garage, Dep. Chief Thrasher said.

The deputy chief said the boat is likely a complete loss.

The home is a summer residence, Dep. Chief Thrasher said, and was not occupied at the time of the fire. He said that a neighbor called the Falmouth Fire Department to report the blaze.

The fire is under investigation to determine how the boat caught fire, but it does not appear that the cause is suspicious, Dep. Chief Thrasher said.
