An East Falmouth man died following a car accident on Wednesday, October 30.

Falmouth police responded to a crash involving a car and a utility pole on Menauhant Road near Oak Grove Avenue at 4:38 PM on Wednesday. Initial reports indicated the driver, Duane Alves, 51, of East Falmouth was unresponsive. Upon arrival, police found Mr. Alves injured but responsive. Falmouth Police Lieutenant Douglas M. DeCosta said Mr. Alves declined medical treatment.

Police reports indicate a medical condition or illness may have contributed to the crash. His car was towed from the scene.

At 9:55 AM October 31, Falmouth police and fire personnel responded to a Central Avenue residence following a report of a person with a faint pulse. Upon arrival, fire department personnel declared Mr. Alves deceased, Lt. DeCosta said. He said the death is not suspicious in nature, but the matter is under investigation.
