An East Falmouth man has been transferred to an off-Cape medical facility due to injuries sustained after a rollover crash on Route 28 in Falmouth on Monday, May 31, led the man to become trapped under his SUV.

Officers located the crash after a report of a man screaming near the intersection of East Falmouth Highway and Judy Ann Drive around 2 AM, police said in a statement posted to social media. Officers Christopher Livingston, Joshua Oliver, Stephen Senior and Tyler Narbonne were able to lift the 2004 GMC Envoy enough to relieve pressure on the operator and allow a Falmouth Fire/Rescue paramedic to pull the man out from under the vehicle, police said.

The operator, Anthony J. Gonsalves, 26, of East Falmouth, was transferred by ambulance to Falmouth Hospital with what appeared to be life-threatening injuries, police said. Weather conditions meant Med Flight was unavailable and Mr. Gonsalves was transferred to an off-Cape medical facility later in morning.

An investigation found that Mr. Gonsalves was traveling west on Route 28 at a high rate of speed on wet roads, lost control, left the roadway and rolled the vehicle over, police said.
