Staff at the West Falmouth Market reported that a man stole a “significant amount of wine” from the store on Wednesday, July 10.

Police responded to the market, where they viewed surveillance footage with the staff. Police were able to obtain several clear images of the suspect’s face, Lieutenant Douglas M. DeCosta said.

“The suspect’s identity was not immediately known. However, after the store posted the image on social media, a caller was able to provide the identity of the suspect,” Lt. DeCosta said.

The West Falmouth Market shared the images on its Facebook page Wednesday evening. The post, which contained a photo of the suspect and his car, was shared more than 670 times.

The man lives out of town and has not been interviewed by Falmouth police at this time, Lt. DeCosta said yesterday.

“This case remains under investigation, and charges are pending,” he said.
