A three-car crash involving a Falmouth Public Schools bus occurred near the School Administration Building on Teaticket Highway on Tuesday, October 29.
At 8:26 AM, Falmouth police responded to the 300 block of Teaticket Highway, where a pickup truck, SUV and school bus were involved in a collision. Falmouth Police Lieutenant Douglas M. DeCosta said there were two children on the bus at the time of the crash, neither of whom were injured. The children were transferred to another school bus and driven to school.
“An investigation revealed that the operator of the 2011 GMC pickup was traveling behind a 2014 Lexus SUV when it slowed to a stop in traffic,” Lt. DeCosta said. “The operator of the 2011 GMC pickup could not stop in time, veered left to avoid the rear of the 2014 Lexus SUV, and then simultaneously struck the right side of the 2014 Lexus SUV as well the 2016 Thompson school bus.”
The 56-year-old driver of the SUV was transported to Falmouth Hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.
The 57-year-old pickup truck driver was cited for following too closely, failing to drive in the right lane and for an equipment violation.
