State Senator Susan L. Moran (D-Falmouth) announced Falmouth High School Nurse Sharon O’Connor as October’s “Healthcare Hero” in an ongoing social media campaign meant to highlight healthcare workers on Cape Cod and the South Shore.

Each month, Ms. Moran and her team select a candidate from a pool of nominees. With the October profile going to Ms. O’Connor, the senator hopes to celebrate all school nurses and health professionals working in education across the Plymouth and Barnstable District.

“School nurses deserve more recognition than they get. Our [school] nurses and health assistants are the key to our efforts to stay in-person. My colleague Sharon O’Connor has gone above and beyond, as have all of our district’s nurses,” said one of Ms. O’Connor’s co-workers, who nominated the school nurse.

Ms. Moran expressed her gratitude to school nurses and health professionals who have worked to protect students’ health and safety.

“Special thanks are owed to Ms. O’Connor for not only demonstrating extraordinary commitment as a school nurse but also for sharing this honor with so many others across our district,” she said.

Submissions are now open to nominate November’s Healthcare Hero. Nominations may be submitted on Ms. Moran’s Facebook page at @StateSenatorSusanMoran.
