Falmouth High School will host a memorial garden service for the public at the school’s main entrance Sunday, June 9, at 10 AM.

“In the early 1990s, after Katherine L. Murray, a Falmouth High School student, passed away during school, students, teachers, staff and many community members worked together to build a memorial garden at the school’s entrance. The original garden was demolished during the high school renovation, but for a second time, the community rallied together to build a new one,” Terri Medeiros, chairman of the Falmouth School Committee, said.

Members of the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society have hosted a service to remember students who died during the last month of school since the original garden was created. Each year, a new flower is planted next to the name of the 27 students whose names are carved in the bricks that encircle the garden.

A reception will follow in school’s library.

Students who will be remembered this year at the ceremony are William D. Bostwick, Lucy Jean Chandler, Gilbert F. Costa Jr., Paul J. Craig, Sean D. Creighton, George D. Crocker, Timothy F. Forde, Timothy C. Fuller, Lee Greer, Owen O. Higgins, Leigh-Anne Horne, James P. Lavin, Amanda M. Lima, Joshua R. Lopes, Lorea Lough, Joseph F. Malone, Danielle A. Morgardo, Allison D. Mosley, Katherine L. Murray, Richard M. Pace IV, Jack Pearsall, Brian D. Perry, William A. Robichaud, John A. Silva Jr., Marc R. Steele, Shannon M. Thompson and Sarah Thomson.
