Multiple fire crews responded early Sunday morning, February 8 to a fire at the Homeport office complex at 314 Gifford Street.

There were no injuries and the occupants were out of the building before crews arrived, but the fire caused significant damage to the structure and it is currently uninhabitable, said Falmouth Deputy Fire Chief Timothy R. Smith.

The building holds two apartments and a medical office. The fire began in the basement apartment and spread up two floors. The cause is still under investigation; however, it does not appear to be suspicious, said the deputy chief.

Because the fire spread to all three floors, Falmouth Fire Department called Mashpee and Joint Base Cape Cod’s fire departments to help.

The website for the Allergy & Asthma Centers of Cape Cod states their office is closed and staff will be working from their Yarmouth location until they find a temporary office in Falmouth.
