Falmouth firefighters responded to a house fire at 568 Locustfield Road on Wednesday, February 10, at 4:17 PM, Falmouth Deputy Fire Chief Chad Absten said.

The occupants of the home had evacuated before crews arrived, the deputy chief said.

Firefighters found the exterior of the house near a gas meter on fire. There was significant damage to the exterior of the home and minor damage inside, the deputy chief said.

National Grid was called to shut off the gas line.

The incident is under investigation by the town fire rescue department, town inspectional services and the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities, according to a post on the fire rescue department Facebook page.
