Shayne Fleming, 26, of Sandwich was issued a citation for failure to yield following a two-truck crash in Falmouth last Friday, January 8.

Falmouth Fire Rescue responded to the scene just before 3:30 PM to discover that the box truck and a dump truck had collided on the northbound on-ramp of Route 28, where it intersects with Route 151, Deputy Chief Chad E. Absten said on Saturday.

The front end of the box truck was so crushed that rescue workers spent close to an hour prying a passenger from the wreckage using the Jaws of Life extrication equipment, the deputy chief said.

The driver of the other vehicle, a dump truck pulling a trailer with an excavator, was Mr. Fleming. He was taken to Falmouth Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, the deputy chief said.

The collision tied up traffic for two hours, he said.

The Falmouth Police and Fire Rescue departments were assisted by the Bourne and Mashpee fire departments.
