A bald eagle rests on a tree branch near Great Pond.

Photographer Anthony DeAngelis III snapped several pictures of a bald eagle near Great Pond on Saturday, January 18.

It was his first time seeing an eagle there, Mr. DeAngelis said. The eagle arrived shortly after noon, when it landed on a tree near Great Bay Street.

“It was perched upon the tree, overlooking the pond,” he said. “I watched it for about 10 minutes. It was circling its head around, looking and shortly after, it took off in flight.”

A portrait photographer with Angel’s Eye Portraiture, Mr. DeAngelis said nature photography is a bit outside his wheelhouse. However, he was able to take several distance shots of the eagle during its brief visit.

“In the short time we were out there, which was 10 to 15 minutes, a dozen people came out to view it in its majesty,” Mr. DeAngelis said.

Mr. DeAngelis, who is from Norwood, is in the process of moving to Falmouth.
