Falmouth police located a vehicle believed to have struck and killed a pedestrian on Friday, September 10, on Grand Avenue in Falmouth Heights, Falmouth Police Lieutenant Douglas DeCosta said.

The investigation into the hit-and-run crash has also revealed a person of interest that may have been operating the vehicle at the time of the crash, he said. The investigation is still active.

Police have been searching for the person responsible for the death of an 81-year-old man from Framingham last Friday evening. Michael D. Leis was struck by the vehicle at approximately 11:30 PM Friday while he was walking with three other people near 201 Grand Avenue.

The driver of the car fled the scene. The other pedestrians were not hurt, police said. Police said the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed and hit the victim from behind after going up onto the sidewalk.
