A military-grade, semi-automatic AR-15 rifle

Powderhorn Outfitters has revealed the whereabouts of all 21 semi-automatic former Falmouth police rifles following months of silence and a resident-led effort to keep tabs on the guns Falmouth traded in to the dealer last year. The information comes as the town now looks to trade in 26 old shotguns to the Hyannis gun dealer.

Interim Town Manager Peter Johnson-Staub told the select board on Monday, March 27, that Powderhorn emailed him to confirm 18 of the 21 rifles are in the hands of local law enforcement, while the remaining three, which are short-barreled rifles, are still with the outfitter. Powderhorn is waiting for federal paperwork required for the sale of the short-barreled guns, he said.
