A portion of Water Street in Woods Hole between MBL Street and the National Marine Fisheries Service driveway is closed while upgrades are made to the Woods Hole lift station.

“The lift station was installed in the early 1980s, and it pumps wastewater from Woods Hole to the Jones/Palmer lift station up at the hospital lights,” Wastewater Superintendent Amy Lowell said.

The town is going to upgrade five lift stations as part of this project. Contractor Robert B. Our Company has already completed exterior work at the Jones Road/Palmer Avenue and Shivericks Pond lift stations. Improvements are also planned at the lift station at the Surf Drive Beach parking lot and the Falmouth Harbor lift station on Robbins Road. The work will be completed in June.

“There will be no road closures for the rest of the work,” Ms. Lowell said.

In addition to improving the electronic and mechanical equipment at the lift stations, the communication systems at two lift stations are being upgraded.
