Dump truck Waquoit Highway

A dump truck caught up in electrical on Route 28 in Waquoit Monday morning prompted authorities to close the road to traffic temporarily.

Waquoit Highway and Martin Road, near the Waquoit Congregational Church, were closed Monday morning, May 3, after a dump truck hit electrical wires, according to Falmouth police. They asked drivers to seek alternate routes.

The body of the dump truck was upright when the incident occurred. Falmouth Police Lieutenant Douglas Decosta said a preliminary investigation revealed possible mechanical issues. State police will be investigating, he said.

There were no injuries and a heavy tow truck was called to remove the vehicle.
