Alipio H. Simons Jr. of Centerville, who was raised in Falmouth, died November 9 at the age of 81.

He was the husband of Elizabeth Simons, to whom he was married for 53 years. The couple had lived in Centerville for the past nine years.

He was the son of Alipio H. Simons Sr. and Mary Gardner Simons.

Mr. Simons graduated in the Lawrence High School Class of 1957 and went on to receive an associate’s degree in mechanical engineering from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston.

His favorite sport was hockey and he had coached his son’s youth hockey teams in Peterborough, New Hampshire. As an aficionado of cars, he maintained a search of ones to restore.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his sons, Jeff S. Simons of Auburn, Alabama, and William F. Simons of Bedford; his grandchildren, Nicholas and Emily Simons of Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Taylor and Cameron Simons of Bedford; a brother and sisters, William J. Simons of Virginia Beach, Victoria DelBono and Catherine Simons of Needham, and Lyn Carter and Maryann Lorson of California; and extended family.

He was preceded in death by five sisters.

Services and burial will be private.
