Allan C. Henry of Falmouth, who spent many years with the Falmouth Fire Department, died August 21 at the age of 87.

He was the husband of Ann E. (Casiles) Henry, who died August 21, 2014. They had married in 1956 at Woods Hole Methodist Church.

Mr. Henry was born and raised in Falmouth. He joined the department in 1948 as a junior call fireman even before he finished high school.

He graduated from Lawrence High School with the Class of 1950 and enlisted in the military, serving four years in the Navy aboard the USS Stoddard during the Korean War.

Mr. Henry became a full-time firefighter in 1956 and retired as a lieutenant in 1986.

He also worked for many years at Falmouth Lumber in Teaticket.

Mr. Henry was a lifetime member of the VFW, and Falmouth Skeet Club and also held memberships at the Falmouth Lodge of Elks and the Clark-Haddad American Legion Post 188 in Sandwich.

He leaves his children, Joan Grondin and her husband, Jerry Grondin, of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Richard C. Henry and his wife, Stephanie J. Henry, of East Falmouth; two grandchildren, Richard E. Henry and Nichole E. Henry; three sisters; and extended family.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 5, from 1 to 3 PM at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street in Falmouth.

A celebration of his life will follow at the Portuguese American Club at 55 Ashumet Road in East Falmouth.
