Audrey Dorsey

Audrey Jane (Hofmann) Dorsey of Falmouth, who had been an active member of the League of Women Voters of Falmouth, died November 23 at the age of 97.

She was the wife of Thomas Fleming Dorsey.

Born and raised in Framingham, following her high school graduation she attended Mount Holyoke College. Her years at Mount Holyoke coincided with the years of World War II and she met nine women who named themselves the Fenortons; the group would remain close friends for the rest of their lives.

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in economics, she spent several years working as a buyer for Filene’s in Boston, before accepting a teaching position at Lasell Junior College in Newton.

She and Mr. Dorsey were married in 1954, and they settled in Falmouth in 1962 to raise their four sons, Tom, Michael, Greg and Mark. The family lived on Nursery Road for more than 50 years before she and her husband moved into Atria Woodbriar Place in 2016. Ms. Dorsey loved that her home was a five-minute walk away “from anywhere in town.”

Besides her involvement with the League of Women Voters of Falmouth, she served as a Town Meeting member.

In addition to her husband and sons, she leaves four grandchildren, Hanlon Smith-Dorsey, Jeshua Dorsey, Maya Dorsey and Summer Dorsey; and a great-grandson, Whit Smith Pierce-Dorsey.
