Bernard Schlichte

Bernard H. Schlichte, 74, of Falmouth and Framingham died January 27. He died at home in Falmouth after a long battle with cancer.

The son of Joseph and Mary Schlichte, he was born in Plymouth and graduated from Catholic Memorial High School and Boston College.

He served in the US Army and did a tour of duty in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970.

Mr. Schlichte enjoyed a career in retail with the Stop & Shop Co. and for a long time operated his own retail recruiting business. He also served as property manager for multiple complexes in the Metro West area. He spent his final working years driving for Gosnold of Cape Cod.

He had a lifelong interest in British sports cars from MGs to Triumphs and owned a large number of boats over the years.

He leaves his wife, Margaret T. Marinelli; three children, John Schlichte of Mansfield, Joseph Schlichte of Pembroke and Erika Schlichte of Marshfield; five grandchildren; his former wife, Mary Anne Schlichte; and extended family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Schlichte.

Visiting hours will be Thursday, January 30, from 4 to 7 PM at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street in Falmouth.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, January 31, at 10 AM at St. Anthony’s Church, 167 East Falmouth Highway.

Burial will be private.
