Falmouth Beach Superintendent Bruce G. Mogardo, who was honored for 58 years of service to the town during a ceremony last month, died Tuesday, October 19, after a battle with cancer. He was 74.

In addition to his decades in the beach department as a champion of beach maintenance and beach nourishment, Mr. Mogardo had also taught at Falmouth High School and served as a coach.

At the September 13 ceremony he was lauded for his effort to make sure there was camaraderie and teamwork in the beach department that he joined in 1963 when he was hired as a lifeguard. He was commended for his extensive knowledge of the beaches and his commitment to his staff.

Although Mr. Mogardo was not able to attend the tribute due to his illness, his daughter, Jessica, accepted a Senate citation from Senator Susan L. Moran (D-Falmouth) on his behalf.

A full obituary and any service information will appear in the next issue of the Enterprise.
