Charles Edward Topping of East Falmouth died December 12. He was 76.

Born in Haverhill, he grew up in Foxboro with three siblings.

He joined the US Navy during his senior year in high school and served as a corpsman from 1962 to 1966.

Following his military service, Mr. Topping studied at Northeastern University and then began a career in banking.

He married Sheila Dudley Echols in 1974 and they raised five children together.

Mr. Topping was a member of the Falmouth Lodge of Elks, serving as a Past Exalted Ruler and trustee, and also participated with the AmVets and American Legion organizations.

In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, a sister, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A private burial will take place at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
