Clara Josephs

Clara Ruth Josephs, 78, of East Falmouth died February 3 after a long illness.

She was born and raised in Bristol, Rhode Island. It was there that she met Manuel Josephs, her husband of 57 years.

During the first part of their marriage, because her husband was in the Coast Guard, the family moved around with his assignments and had lived in Seattle, Alabama, Florida, Maine and Maryland. They finally settled in Great Harbors in 1974.

Ms. Josephs retired after working at Falmouth Hospital for 25 years.

She loved walking in the woods with numerous family dogs and this was what she missed most after she was no longer able to navigate the trails.

Even though she traveled throughout the country while raising a family and it had been more than 50 years since Ms. Josephs lived in Rhode Island, she always referred to Bristol as “home.”

She leaves four children, Christopher Josephs of Fairfax Station, Virginia, and Annemarie McGhee and her husband, Jimmy McGhee, Leslie Baumann and her husband, Kurt Baumann, and David Josephs and his wife, Jodi Josephs, all of East Falmouth; eight grandchildren, Ryan Moore, Emily Moore, Kyle M. Geggatt, Jacob Josephs, Lily Josephs, Isabel Josephs, Genevieve Josephs and Casey Baumann; two siblings, Patricia Head of Sarasota, Florida, and Michael Catalano of Bristol, Rhode Island; and other family including many relatives in Bristol.

She was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Mary (Estrella) Catalano; and a brother, Cataldo Catalano.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, February 11, at 10 AM at St. Anthony’s Church, 167 East Falmouth Highway.

Interment will be at St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
