Deborah Dunkle Clemons, 59, of Hanson died September 18 after a brief struggle with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. She leaves her mother in North Falmouth.

She was the spouse of Brian Clemons, her husband of 31 years.

The daughter of Shirley and William Dunkle, she was raised in North Falmouth. After graduating from Falmouth High School with the Class of 1979, she furthered her education at Fitchburg State College, from which she graduated in 1983.

She then achieved her lifelong dream of becoming a registered nurse. She worked at Lahey Clinic and South Shore Hospital as an emergency room nurse for several years.

Ms. Clemons put her nursing career on hold while she was raising and homeschooling her four children. During this time she also guided and mentored other homeschooling parents in the Pilgrim’s Progress Homeschool group in Duxbury.

In recent years, Ms. Clemons had returned to the nursing world as a private duty nurse.

She was a woman of faith.

In addition to her mother and husband, she leaves her four children and four grandchildren; her sister Karen Dunkle Hotte of Marion; and many extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her father and also by an aunt, Carolyn Barnes.

Burial will be private.

A memorial service in celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
