Doris M. McGowan, 86, died July 11 at her home in East Falmouth after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Ms. McGowan, who was known as Dolly, was the wife of 65 years of Francis J. McGowan.
Born in Attleboro, she was the daughter of George and Evelyn Roach.
After she was graduated from North Attleboro High School in 1951, she went on to graduate from nursing school at Pondville Hospital in 1953.
Ms. McGowan worked as a licensed practical nurse for many years at Pondville Hospital and, in later years, at medical offices in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and also in Attleboro.
In addition to her husband, she leaves two children, Pamela A. Pearson of Sandwich and Brian F. McGowan of Blackstone; four grandchildren, Ryan, Shawn and Holly Pearson, and Meghan McGowan; three siblings, Janet McHugh of Attleboro, Doug Roach of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Karen Buja of Mansfield; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, James Roach; a son, Michael F. McGowan; and a granddaughter, Erin B. McGowan.
An hour of visitation followed by a funeral service will be Wednesday, July 15, beginning at 9 AM at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street in Falmouth.
A graveside service is planned for 12:15 PM at Plainville Cemetery in Plainville.
