Dr. Paul Goldring, 79, of North Falmouth died September 21 from cancer.

He was the husband of 29 years of Margaret A. Geist.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of Samuel and Lillian Goldring. He graduated from Brooklyn College and received a PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Rochester in 1969.

After Dr. Goldring moved to Cape Cod in the early 1970s, he established a clinical practice that continued for 40 years.

As an avid reader and lover of music, he filled his home with books and music. A long-distance runner, he participated in numerous marathons.

In addition to his wife, he leaves her sons and their families, Todd Geist and his wife, Lori Peters, of Thousand Oaks, California, and Jordan Geist and his wife, Kelly Geist, of East Falmouth and their children, Jonathan Geist, Amy Geist and Ryan Geist; a brother, Marc Goldring of Jamaica Plain; and two nieces, Katie Goldring of Mattapan and Julianna Goldring of Brookline.

No service was planned for the present time.
