Elizabeth Ann Hough of Buzzards Bay died March 13 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth as a result of COVID-19. Ms. Hough, 83, leaves family in Bourne, Sandwich and Falmouth.

She was the daughter of Kathryn and William Gauthier and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1956. She was known as Bettie.

After completing Quincy City Hospital School of Nursing in 1959, she started working as a nurse at Tobey Hospital in Wareham. Ms. Hough spent the final 20 years of her nursing career at Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School in Bourne as a school nurse.

She and Gerald F. Hough were married on June 20, 1959. They lived in Connecticut and Michigan before settling in Buzzards Bay, where they raised four children.

Ms. Hough worshiped at St. Margaret’s Church in Buzzards Bay.

In addition to her husband she leaves their children, Deborah Golden of Sandwich, Gerald F. Hough Jr. of Brewster, Steven Hough of Falmouth and Kevin Hough of Bourne; six grandchildren, Ryan Golden, Brianna Golden, Jacob Golden, Elliott Hough, Olivia Hough and Griffin Hough; and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Christopher Golden.

Services will be private.

A celebration of her life is planned for a date to be announced.
