Elizabeth E. Halstead of Teaticket died November 7 after a period of declining health. She was 88.

She was born in Newton and raised in Norwood, graduating from Norwood High School in the Class of 1950.

Ms. Halstead worked for New England Telephone, which later became Verizon, and retired from the company in December 1991.

She made Falmouth her permanent home after moving here in 1971.

She leaves her children, Debra Lynch of Mashpee, Richard Halstead of East Falmouth, Cheryl Hankinson of Leland, North Carolina, and Joseph Halstead, Frank Halstead, Judy Halstead and Tracey Halstead, all of East Falmouth; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Jane Burke of Marrero, Louisiana; many nieces and nephews; and extended family.

She was preceded in death by a sister and a granddaughter.

Visiting hours will be Sunday, November 15, from 2 to 4 PM at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street in Falmouth.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 16, at 10 AM in St. Patrick’s Church, 511 Main Street, Falmouth.

Burial will be private.
