Gerald A. Cafarelli, who practiced law in Falmouth, died March 2 at Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, following a brief illness. He was 89.

Born in Clinton, he was the youngest of six children.

After graduating from Clinton High School, he joined the US Navy, and served four years during the Korean War.

Upon his military discharge, Mr. Cafarelli attended St. Michael’s College in Vermont, graduating in 1959, followed by Suffolk University and New England Law School. He was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar Association and practiced law with his brother, Eugene J. Cafarelli, in Clinton for several years.

In 1974, he moved to Cape Cod and operated a law office in Falmouth until his retirement in 1994.

In recent years he had lived in Pompano Beach, Florida.

Mr. Cafarelli leaves three nieces; three nephews; and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his five siblings.

Burial at St. John’s Cemetery in Lancaster will be private.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at a future time.
