Gerald Alves

Gerald Richard Alves Sr., 86, of Teaticket died December 28.

He was born and raised in Falmouth, the son of Richard Alves and Adeline Lomba. He was known as Jerry.

Mr. Alves was a former Falmouth police officer.

He was a longtime member of the Elks Lodge in town.

In recent years, Mr. Alves attended the JML Adult Day Health program.

He loved the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and Boston Bruins.

He leaves five daughters, Darleen Alves of Little Rock, Arkansas, Adrea Roderick of Wareham, Georgette Alves Floyd of Pennsylvania, Tajuanna Alves of Havenal, California, and Bonnie Alves of Baltimore, Maryland; two sons, Richard Alves of Yarmouth and Gerald Alves IV and his wife, Janet Alves, of Boston; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three siblings; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son John Alves.

A memorial service will be Saturday, January 4, from 2 to 5 PM at the Cape Verdean Club, 126 Sandwich Road in East Falmouth.
