Hilda Sousa died Sunday, February 14, at her daughter’s home in Mashpee. She was 89.

Born in Terceira, Azores, she was the daughter of Manuel Valadao Sr. and Maria Valadao.

Ms. Souza enjoyed dancing, playing bingo, knitting, making bibs for newborn babies at Falmouth Hospital and spending time with her family.

She leaves her children, Richard Cordeiro and his wife, Karen Cordeiro, of Taunton, Norma Blake and her husband, Richard Blake, of Falmouth, John Cordeiro of Taunton, and Kelley Hendricks and her husband, Robert Hendricks, of Mashpee. She also leaves her brothers Manuel Valadao Sr. of Falmouth, Joseph Costa of Falmouth; and Nemesio Bettencourt of Taunton. She leaves many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and other family.

She was predeceased by her siblings John Valadao and Mary Souto; and her grandson Jarred Cordeiro.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 167 East Falmouth Highway on Friday, February 26, at 10 AM. Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery
