ILM Francis P. Balas

In Loving Memory Francis Peter Balas, 79, of Pocasset, MA and Sarasota, FL passed away on Thursday, November 14th of 2019. Born and raised in Lowell, MA on June 19, 1940 to Stanley “Pete” Balas and Mary O’Hagan Balas of Lowell, MA and then married the love of his life for 54 years, Martha Collins, on November 20, 1965. Frank was a loving father to Carolyn Zaleski of Salem, MA and Chrysa Dunser and son in law Alex Dunser of Tampa, FL. Frank had a successful law career in the Merrimack Valley and was an active volunteer for his community. Frank was dedicated as the 1992 City of Lowell Man of the Year, celebrating his decades of volunteer work as Chairman and past president of the Greater Lowell YMCA. Frank was an active curler and past president of the Cape Cod Curling Club. Frank was also an active member at Pocasset Golf Club and Palm Aire Golf Club.

Frank leaves behind his sister and brother, Mary Kennedy and Joseph Balas of Lowell, MA, in-laws Faith Collins and Thomas Scanlon of Washington, DC , Elaine Balas and James Kennedy both of Lowell. A loving grandfather, he leaves behind Lydia and Tom Zaleski of Marblehead, MA and Lech and Lucca Dunser of Tampa, FL and many nieces and nephews. There will be a celebration of life mass on Saturday, November 30th at 11 AM at St. Margaret of Scotland Parish located at 141 Main St. Buzzards Bay, MA.
