Gladys Grant

In Loving Memory: July 18, 1942 – September 18, 2021

Gladys Eleanor Grant, 79, of Palm Coast, FL passed away at Advent Health Palm Coast Hospital on Saturday, September 18, 2021.

She is survived by her children Kathleen A. Grant of Palm Coast, FL, Carlton W. Grant III and his wife Cindie of Palm Coast, FL and Sharan Lombardo and her husband Charles of Mansfield, TX, her brothers Joseph F. Lovett and his wife Susan of Baton Rouge, LA, Edward P. Lovett and his wife Barbara of Nashua, NH and her grandchildren Robert, Katherine, Eric, Lauren, Victoria, Jacqueline, Brittany, Chelsey, Nicole, Darryl, Patrick, Megan and Joseph, great grandchildren Courtney and Cheyenne and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph F. and Gladys E. Lovett, and her daughter Christine J. Greene.

Gladys was born July 18, 1942 in Providence, RI to Joseph F. and Gladys E. Lovett. She graduated from Cranston East High School in 1960. Gladys married Carlton W. Grant Jr. at Saint Mark’s Church in Cranston, RI on October 8, 1960. Over the years, they welcomed 4 children into their home. Gladys enjoyed teaching everyone how to cook, sew, knit, crochet, garden and most of all how to enjoy boating and spending quality time on the water. The family enjoyed many years of boating the waters of Cape Cod together. Gladys’ love of sailing, family time at the beach and enjoying all kinds of water activities has been passed down through all of her children and grandchildren. Gladys was an amazing seamstress. Over the years she created everything from handmade clothing for her children, to custom boat covers to christening gowns. Gladys also could knit just about anything from hats, to mittens, to amazing cable knit sweaters. Gladys worked in bookkeeping and accounting for many years while raising her children. In her later years, she worked in sales and administration.

In 2008, Gladys began spending winters living with her daughter Kathleen in Palm Coast, FL. She moved there permanently in 2012. Gladys spent her retirement years enjoying the warmer weather and beaches with her children and grandchildren.

A funeral mass will take place on October 20, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 841 Shore Rd, Pocasset, MA. There will be a private burial at a later date.
