James T. Phillips Jr., 68, of Falmouth died unexpectedly following a heart attack on Saturday, May 25.

He was born in Newton, the son of the James T. and Mary (Mullen) Phillips.

Mr. Phillips worked for the Steamship Authority in Woods Hole. He loved boats and being by the water. He often could be found at Falmouth Harbor reading the newspaper and having coffee as he watched the boats coming in and out.

He was a congregant of St. Patrick's Church in Falmouth.

He leaves two daughters, Sarah Floyd and her husband, Jason Floyd, and Meghan E. Stimpson and her husband, Alexander C. Stimpson, and four grandchildren, Emma and Charlie Floyd, and Katie and Jake Stimpson, all of Falmouth; his former wife, Helen Phillips of Falmouth; a brother, Tom Phillips; and other family.

Visiting hours will be Sunday, June 2, from 3 to 5 PM at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street in Falmouth.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 3, at 10 AM at St. Patrick's Church, 511 Main Street in Falmouth.
