Jane Garvey Dorsey, a longtime resident of Woods Hole, died August 1 after a long illness. She was 64.

She was the wife of John W. Adelman, whom she met at the Museum School of Boston.

She was the daughter of Dr. Joseph and Blanch Dorsey of Belmont.

Ms. Dorsey worked for the Steamship Authority for many years until retiring in 2018.

As a constant reader, she could often be found at the Woods Hole Public Library; she also loved to travel and cook as well as make art.

With her husband she was an active member of the Falmouth Lodge of Elks for 17 years, participating in charity events and lodge activities.

In addition to her husband, she leaves four siblings, Jeffrey Dorsey, Jean Colbath, Paul Dorsey and Denise McGee.

A celebration of the life of Ms. Dorsey will be Saturday, August 10, at 4 PM at the Elks Lodge #2380, 140 Palmer Avenue in Falmouth. Hawaiian shirts are optional.
