Joan Ellen Medeiros of Cape Coral, Florida, died at Cape Coral Hospital on September 17. She was 69 and a former resident of Falmouth.

She was the wife of Arthur R. Medeiros Jr. and daughter of the late Jeremiah and Constance Murphy.

Ms. Medeiros graduated from Lawrence High School in 1970 and received her associate’s degree from Cape Cod Community College.

She worked as a realtor for many years and was a parishioner at St. Anthony’s Church in East Falmouth.

She loved reading and enjoyed writing; the alumni book of former Falmouth students noted that she was a writer of romance novels and thrillers. Ms. Medeiros also enjoyed camping, among other activities.

In addition to her husband of 47 years, she leaves their two sons, Kevin Medeiros of Mashpee and Daniel Medeiros of Cape Coral, Florida; her brother, Kevin Murphy of Quincy; six grandchildren; and other family.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday at St. Anthony’s Church in East Falmouth.

Burial was at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
