Joan M. (Demeter) Erhardt, 88, of Brewster and Bradenton, Florida, died May 30. She leaves a daughter in Falmouth.

She was the wife of Frederick E. Erhardt for 68 years.

Originally from New Jersey, Ms. Erhardt was a nursery school teacher there. After receiving her master’s degree, she became a special education teacher, working in both Livingston and Hanover Township schools for many years.

Upon her retirement, she was a substitute special education teacher in Brewster.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and knitting, and was an active participant in Share-A-Craft in Bradenton. She made numerous preemie quilts and knit caps for charity.

Ms. Erhardt also loved reading, cats, and feeding the birds. In Florida she was an active member of the Trailer Estates Covenant Church, in addition to attending Brewster Baptist Church and Cape Cod Covenant Church.

Her baking skills were in demand at many fundraising events.

In addition to her husband, she leaves three children, Keith Erhardt of Brewster, Carol Erhardt of Falmouth, and Beth Erhardt Hesse and her husband, Robert Hesse, of Canton, Ohio; her younger brother, Paul Demeter of New Jersey; and extended family members.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
