John Andrew Angelo of Falmouth died on May 22, after a long illness, at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont. He was 22.
He graduated from Falmouth High School in the Class of 2017. During high school he was a member of the Wind Ensemble and Honors Jazz Band. He was selected in both sophomore and senior years to All-Cape Band, in which he played trombone, euphonium and trumpet. He also had been inducted into the school honor societies for music and mathematics.
He attended Champlain College, majoring in networking and cybersecurity.
Mr. Angelo was a vocal proponent for social justice and civil rights, and was passionate in his support for Senator Bernie Sanders’s 2016 presidential campaign.
He worked summers during high school and college at Ben & Bill’s Chocolate Emporium in downtown Falmouth, worked after school at the Boys & Girls Club of Cape Cod in Mashpee, and had an internship as a computer programmer at SaQus in Falmouth.
In addition to his love of music and computers, he enjoyed longboarding, baseball, playing chess and video games and learning guitar. He struggled with mental illness and addiction in the last years of his life.
He leaves his parents, Steve and Ginny Angelo; two sisters; a niece and three nephews; and other extended family.
A private memorial service is being planned.
