Joseph Rizzo

Joseph E. Rizzo of North Falmouth, 82, died August 23 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston.

He was the husband of Patricia (Dolan) Rizzo, to whom he was married for 60 years.

Born in Boston, he was the son of Dr. Baldassari and Marguerite Rizzo.

He graduated in 1955 from Braintree High School and then enlisted in the US Navy, serving during the Korean War.

Following his military service, Mr. Rizzo enrolled at Boston University and earned a degree in communications.

He and his wife raised their family in Braintree, where Mr. Rizzo was a co-founder of Tiger Home Inspection. With the support of his wife, together they contributed to the success of the company and its growth continues today under the leadership of their two sons.

Mr. Rizzo was a longtime member of Pocasset Golf Club and a lifelong member of the American Legion. He also was an avid boater, especially on the waters near Falmouth, and enjoyed shellfishing near his home at Wild Harbor.

For 20 years, he and his wife vacationed in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, and traveled elsewhere internationally.

In addition to his wife, he leaves their sons, Joseph E. Rizzo Jr. of Hanover and Sean Rizzo of Braintree; five grandchildren; and extended family.

Visitation will be Sunday, September 8, from 1 to 4 PM at Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 584 West Falmouth Highway, followed by a funeral service at 4 o’clock.

Afterward, a reception and words of remembrance will begin at 5 PM at the Sea Crest Beach Hotel, 350 Quaker Road in North Falmouth.
