Joseph Francis Griffin of East Falmouth died February 16, after living with Parkinson’s disease and cardiovascular disease for many years. He was 79.
He was the husband of Genie (Hatch) Griffin.
Born in Washington, DC, he was the son of Commander John Barry Griffin and Catherine Griffin. He was raised in Woburn, graduating in 1959 from Woburn High School. After attending Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont, he joined the US Army Reserve.
Mr. Griffin earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting at Bentley University in Waltham. He worked for many New England companies, retiring from MacDougalls’ Cape Cod Marine Service in Falmouth.
During his retirement he and friends gathered for breakfast on Wednesday mornings and were known as the ROMEO Group (Retired Opinion Makers Eating Out).
In addition to his wife, he leaves his sister, Kathleen Hogan, as well as his nephews, nieces, cousins and other family.
He was predeceased by his brother, John B. Griffin.
A celebration of his life is planned for this summer.
