Word has been received that Letha L. Sprout of Falmouth died July 29 after several years of declining health. She was 95.

She was born in Lancaster to Oliver Lescord and Agnes (Drake) Lescord.

After graduating from Bellows Falls High School in 1943, she studied at Fitchburg Nursing School.

Ms. Sprout moved to Falmouth in 1949 and raised her three children here.

She worked as a nursery school teacher for Falmouth Child Study Club, and eventually had a day care in her home.

Later in life she worked as an activities director, with the goal of helping seniors to keep their minds active. She wrote a book, “The Think Tank Word Games,” for all generations. Her grandchildren enjoyed her word games.

Ms. Sprout was a former president and longtime member of Mashpee Garden Club.

She leaves a sister, Shirley Smith of Drewsville, New Hampshire; a daughter, Lois A. Ferreira of East Falmouth; two sons, Richard A. Fernandes of New Bedford and James A. Fernandes of Danforth, Maine; five grandchildren; and other family.

Interment of her ashes will be private.
